NEWS

The 43rd Covenant Awards will take place in Kitchener-Waterloo November 17th and 18th, with in-person awards and showcases over two evenings, and a networking brunch and three-session mini-conference on Saturday during the day. Plans include two after parties at local restaurants, and media and photograph opportunities prior to each evening event. We are currently working with our partners to finalize details, and will be updating our members as we are able. Submissions will open this summer.

We are also pleased to announce that one of our members stepped up to offer a new website that will include member profiles and new ways to submit and to vote. We appreciate your patience and grace while we work to make any transitions as smooth as possible.

God bless you all.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GMA Canada is pleased to announce this year's Lifetime Achievement Award recipients : Amoy Levy, and Stephen J. Rendall. They will be honoured at the virtual 42nd Covenant Awards - Saturday, November 19th, 7PM Central Time.

Amoy Levy will be given this award posthumously, for her exemplary work that began in a family band (Zion's Youth) at a young age, and saw her become an in-demand, inspired vocalist, choir director, and artist in the Gospel, Pop, Jazz, R&B and Rock worlds. Her many credits include performing with renowned artists such as Toronto Mass Choir, Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker, and mainstream legends Celine Dion, Olivia Newton John and Tom Cochrane. Hers was a career of excellence, no matter what the project. Her deep Christian faith shone through her work and relationships, both on and off the stage. She is survived by her three sisters, many nieces and nephews, and family and friends around the globe.

Stephen J Rendall - GMA Canada Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

Stephen J Rendall is a formidable producer and writer, whose credits include over four hundred projects. His career began in the 1980s as a production manager, road manager, and live sound engineer for Christian music greats including Petra, Silverwind, Phil Keaggy, Sheila Walsh, and Randy Stonehill. The Canadian Christian music industry has been blessed over the years through his work with artists Jill Paquette, Jake, Matt Brouwer, Starfield and Brian Doerksen, to name just a few. The investment of his talents and decades-long experience is demonstrated by his ongoing commitment to the development of artists and songwriters, and to the continual innovation in the way music is made and promoted. Moreover, he is a story-keeper, with invaluable knowledge of the music industry, particularly the world of Christian music - its origins and its possibilities.
